11 January 2011 - It is with regret that I announce that according to the February 2010 report to Congress by the Director, Warfare Integration, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations both the USS Simon Lake (AS 33) and USS McKee (AS 41) have been designated for dismantling. That is all that I am aware of now but if I hear any updated informationn I will post it here at the USS McKee AS-41 website 06 January 2010 - I have seen several comments about image file sizes not being large enough for your pictures. Please read this update about uploading your pictures and their sizess. |
Changes To Gallery and Portrait Image Sizes
Last Updated (Wednesday, 06 January 2010 15:04) Wednesday, 06 January 2010 13:46
I have seen several website comments about the image upload limits are too small. I have doubled the upload limits for images in your personal page photo gallery to 500 KB. That is plenty for web based images. Keep in mind that images you have scanned or taken with your camera are probably of the maximum quality such as those used for photo prints. Web images do not require anywhere near that quality and those file sizes are prohibative even in this day of high bandwidth internet connections. The biggest reason is most computer monitors do not have a screen resolution high enough to see that higher quality. Thus those higher quality images are a waste of server disc space and download bandwidth used via the web browser.
For those of you who don't know how to resize and reduce the file size of your images I have found an online program you can use to reduce your images so they will fit on the web site. Go here for that free service.
